Documentary Miss Representation

"Miss Representation" is a documentary film about how the media has a big influence on the way people view women. Throughout the film, we are exposed to the truth about what magazines, t.v., and other media sources and the effect they have on us. Girls, teenagers, and women are looked upon as "items" now and are compared to "how we should look". Models on the cover of magazines is how  the society expects everyone to look like. If we don't, then we're not perfect and people find things to trash talk about. This image of a "perfect" women is imprinted on everyone's brain and even the girls themselves try to change their self. This is the reason why girls become anorexic and then they are made fun of, when all they're really trying to do is look like someone the society would accept. Girls are pushed to look and act a certain way and this is also what makes guys act a certain way. Guys are expected to be tough, strong, and not show emotion because if you do, that would make you less of a man.
I really don't think it's necessary for advertisements to have these models in bikinis, half naked to sell their products. It's not appropriate for kids who also watch t.v. and just happens to stumble across these during commercials. From a very young age, kids are already trained to view people judgmentally and critically without getting to know their story.

Recap of my interview

So far, I'm very proud of my improvements on the community run.
I went from 27 minutes (last year) to 20 minutes and 45 seconds (first community run this semester) to
18 minutes and 45 seconds (second community run this sem.)
I feel like my fitness is really improving from all the cardio exercises we do and I've also reached level 10 on the beep test for the first time last week, which I'm also very proud of.

I've learned that if you put in the time and effort each day, your health and fitness level will improved.
Pushing yourslef to keep going can be very hard, and at times I felt like I've reached my max. but I pushed myself and realised i haven't.

My goals for the end of this course are : getting to at least level 10.6, finishing the community run in 18 minutes, and i hope to keep active after the semester ends.
